From the future to the present times
I spent the complete last week in Dresden with my alternative hobby. Since I left everything for the tabletop hobby at home, there was nothing that distracted me. 😉 In a very modern style, I also declined largely the TV-program and looked over to our Amazon Prime subscription (for which this is not a commercial break). In addition to an action movie (John Wick), I watched „Automata“. A movie that seems even more interesting after the victory of AlphaGo over the Go Pro, Lee Sedol.
The movie is a spanish/bulgarian/US/canadian production. In reviews often „decried“ as a low-budget work, but in my opinion you do not see that. One starring role is played by Antonio Banderas and a supporting role is occupied by Melanie Griffith. The dystopia essentially circles around the theme „What is life?“ and to parts of the „Laws of Robotics“ of Asimov. For long sequences it is very quiet up and then with some Action.
I noticed later that this week, the games between the artificial intelligence AlphaGo and its human counterpart Lee Sedol took place. Exciting debates took place in the world of science and philosophy just on the results and impact of this. The mixture of fiction and shortly seen movie occupied me a little more than usual. Also, because I still have two interesting books („Race Against The Machine“ and „The Second Machine Age„) in mind. But be careful, this are non-fictional books. 🙂
Overall I really liked the movie and I cannot share the bad reviews. For those who like more calm Sci-Fi they are kept safe and it deserves a try (Trailer).
